Case Study
After years of wanting to work with nonprofits and give back to the community, Go Farm was given the opportunity to work with the Oakland Zoo beginning in the summer of 2006. Go Farm was selected by the Nancy Filippi (the Director of Marketing who spent her pre-nonprofit time at the Walt Disney Company) as their web agency of record and embarked on a complete redesign of their website which had been previously maintained internally by the Oakland Zoo staff for the past number of years.
Go Farm took superstar Los Angeles based photographer Kevin Scanlon for a private early (5am) tour of the zoo so we could see the animals rise and observe them interact with the zoo keepers and staff without the public. We used these photographs as a starting point for the redesign.
Our goals in this project were to increase traffic, brand loyalty, return visits, add additional multi-media content, increase site consistency and reorganize the site architecture so that it would be easier for visitors to locate the content they were seeking. We accomplished this by building and implementing a custom content management system as well as meeting with each department of the zoo’s staff to address their needs, concerns, and priorities.
Phase one of this project was marked by the site launch, but keep your eyes peeled for phases two and three over the next year.
